Links

Assortment of links for things around the web. My glorified bookmarks tab.

NSFW pages will be marked with a little '𖤐' symbol (as I have done on the webring). The definition of NSFW so far is strongly sexually suggestive content, although this doesn't exactly cover anything very mildly suggestive or, just, kinda weird or gross. Anything that doesn't have a specific outline of its content, you click at your own risk. I think it's more fun that way.

Indie Web

...it's sorta obvious what's gonna be here. I'm not friends with anyone I'm linking here, I just liked the way their sites looked. This will be updated sporadically, whenever I feel like it. Any errors in the images (sizing, not showing up, etc.) are on me, and while I set about fixing them I advise you to check out each link anyway.

Net Neighbours

Sites who've linked back to me too. I think this is how this works.

Resources and Learning

A Brief History & Ethos of the Digital Garden - maggieappleton.com - Inspiring short essay on what makes digital gardens unique and why they're important in the modern web. Move away from premade templates and short-lived content streams that can get taken down at any time!!

Psychopharmacologic treatment of borderline personality disorder. - Ripoll, L.H. (2013) - One of many articles I got to read as part of a school project. The way psychological issues are treated is pretty fascinating. My main takeaway from these articles is that nobody really knows how to treat anything other than mild depression.

Does "difficult patient" status contribute to functional demedicalization? The case of borderline personality disorder. - Sandra H. Sulzer (2015) - Discusses how a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder affects mental health professionals' perception and treatment of their patients. Foound this while researching the project previously mentioned. Wasn't able to use it as a source but it's still one of the most interesting articles I'd read. Thank god I finally have somwehere to share it.

Satanic Panic, Wikipedia - The era in (primarily) US history where people thought daycare groups were performing Satanic rituals on children.

The Rise and Fall of Internet Art Communities Kelsey Ables, artsy.net (2019) - On DeviantArt and similar sites, and how social media has affected them.

Marie Sauvage 𖤐 - This is a shibari rigger I don't know why I'm linking this.

VidMix.app - In-browser video editor.

Dark Reader - Dynamic and highly customisable dark mode browser extension for all sites. Completely free. Doesn't just invert colours like I've seen way too many dark mode extensions do.

I am not always very attached to being alive by Anna Borges - A quick essay on living with passive suicidal ideation. I feel ridiculous thinking that I can relate to these things when I'm so young.

A Therapist's Guide to Brief Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - PDF on CBT.

Storygraph - Book tracking site, probably the most popular alternative to Goodreads.

Librarything - Another, older book tracker.

King Arthur Baking's Ingredient Weight Chart - Conversion list between cups, ounces, and grams for baking ingredients.

The surprising psychology behind your urge to break the rules, Paul Bloom - Quick TED talk on the psychology of wanting to break rules just for the sake of it. Watching this deeply comforted me; I'd like to know the psychology behind that, too.

Cohost September 2024 Financial Debate Retrospective: Making Sense of The End by osteophage on Pillowfort - Nice summary of CoHost's downfall, with plenty of sources. Maybe a little more biased than ideal - it is a social media post - but a fun read nonetheless.

The next day I came out of the shower, after showering, for maybe 20 minutes, and I'd received at least 40 notifications while I was gone. I thought someone died or something but it turned out they were just looking for this video from me. It's a good video to be fair.
